about

While I was on vacation this past June in Colorado, I was contacted by an artist named Dirk Eggermont aka Mantris, who was interested in releasing his new album on our label. He is an emigrant from Belgium who relocated to India in 2000. As I was having a cup of coffee enjoying the mountain scenery outdoors I popped in my earbuds and listened to this album from beginning to end while waiting for my family to awake to a new day. As I progressed through the album I could not only hear the fantastic production quality present but a journey that was explained to me in Dirk’s email regarding the theme of the album. As I finished the album I had to start the album over again to relive that journey. See the explanation from Dirk below.

Enjoy,

Josh

"So the concept is simple. If you look at the image that I used it goes from Red (miracle) to Dark (pain). The album is a build up like that as well. The first 6 tracks are miracle and the turning point is the 7th track named “Portal”. From then onwards it takes you to the pain/dark side. The album should be kept on repeat so it goes from dark to miracle and miracle to dark. Continuous loop between the two. Just like life itself. There are more miracle tracks as I believe in hope. Hope is a miracle on itself. Once hope is gone, then there’s only darkness."

about

mantris Mumbai, India

It has been almost 30 years since Mantris shared music with the world. Together with Christoph Waelkens he was the driving force behind house outfits The Black Sun and Brown Hardware Inc. Their creative connection led to three consecutive releases in 1992 on cult label Elektron. A productive music career was forecasted, but Mantris vanished into thin air.
Until early 2020.
